		<description>From what I&#039;ve read about that mess, it&#039;s right up there with the Big Dig for stupidity and negligence.

I&#039;m sure it&#039;s getting straightened out to get tourists to the Coast faster and safer. I&#039;ve discovered that tourists can&#039;t handle curves all that well. If it keeps them off Route 34, I&#039;d be okay with that. Route 34 is way big hoopey fun!</description>

		<description>Philomath to Newport...Yep, it&#039;s a nice ride.  BUT the Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) in their infinite wisdom (and money) are straightening the road.  It will by-pass Eddyville (they had to take down a mountain to do this) and it will take out many of the turns.  

How many millions of dollars?   Is it now something like $160 million after all the screwups and miscalculations or is it more than that?

And the purpose of this is?   Nope, this was before the stimulus rounds of money.

Go figure.
